And dogs, too! Not long after I posted last night, I found out incredibly exciting news.
For those sad people who are not aware of my amazing dog, please follow this link:

And for those too lazy to click on the link, I will tell you what it contains:
Chloe is a 7 1/2 year old boxer who has been visiting us for many years. Chloe is a beautiful girl with an equally beautiful nature. She has a bundle of fun playing with all her dog friends while her sister Primrose (ragdoll) relaxes at the cattery.
Yeah, Chloe’s sister Primrose, does not “relax” she collapses like a big fat sloth and is unable to move again for several hours. I just check every few hours that she hasn’t gone into cardiac arrest. But anyway, we’ll leave Brookfield Chalet and return to Florida, USA but that should have been incredibly exciting for everyone, anything else on this blog pales by comparison.
Today, we went to Disney Animal Kingdom, but not before Jonathon and Mum had another argument about bed making and visiting the outlet shops. I hate shopping, my feet get sore and outlet shopping is the worst… there’s too much for no money and it all gets too stressful and I go wait outside, whilst Mum and Jonathon found Levi jeans for 20 dollars, which is very decent but when I tried a pair on even the “short fit” was too long. But we did have two excitements:
Those machines solely stock M&Ms and Pringles and Jonathon quite rightly said it “Only in America”
Something else that is only in America (and Canada) is Taco Bell. When we came over to the States in 2005, we left without ever having tried Taco Bell and I think Jonathon’s heart broke slightly and wasn’t mended until today. My verdict on Taco Bell? It was actually quite nice, which is slightly surprising since I often find myself disappointed by things I’ve looked forward to in USA/Canada.
But something that wasn’t disappointing was Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Zoo isn’t always my favourite place because similar to shopping, I get very sore feet, ankles and back and ultimately migraine headaches but this one was impressive, as is everything Disney does. The other issue with the zoo is this:
An average Mum/Mom: Come on kids! It’s a rhino!
Kids: YAY! Let’s go!
(Kids run off, Mum/Mom shouting at them to slow down whilst she pushes a stroller laden with bags, water bottles and sunscreen and Dad brings up the rear, holding the hand of the slow moving child, wearing a tacky shirt and sneakers with white socks, adjusting his bum-bag and sunglasses)
(The family arrive at the enclosure, at the glass window to view the rhino. The kids push their noses against the screen, their breath fogging up the window whilst the Mum/Mom shuffles in with the heavy stroller and the Dad again brings up the rear)
Kids: Mum? Where is it?
The family waits for ten minutes, and stares at an empty enclosure.
Dad: Well, maybe it’s sleeping. Why don’t we try looking at the cheetahs?
(The above scene repeats with the same results).
But Disney Animal Kingdom wasn’t like that, at least for us it wasn’t. You were as close to the animals as you’ll ever get and there was a safari that took us through ‘Africa’ and that was also really good. There are some photos of some of the animals below:
Like I said, everything Disney does – they do it well. You seemed to forget that you were in Florida, and it seemed like you were in Africa. Even down to the bathrooms, they make sure it’s animal themed:
And I know that Disney wants to educate us, but surely we know how to wash our hands?
I enjoyed Disney Animal Kingdom, but we probably didn’t get long enough there – it closed early due to “Early Sunset” which is probably because there was a bit of a thunderstorm. Again, it depends on your interests – if you really like animals, then definitely go. There are some thrill rides too, so you can get your fix. If I only had one day to spend in Disneyworld, I would not choose the Animal Kingdom. I don’t know which I would choose because I still have another park to see tomorrow, and I am most excited about this one…
I wanted to apologize right now because I use a dash (—) way too much. I’ll try not to.
Something else I found out about Disneyworld is that they hold wedding ceremonies there and it is on the beach, with the castle backdrop and I thought “Wow, that’s lovely – wouldn’t that be amazing. A real fairytale wedding!” and the rest of the family laughed and said “Hahaha wouldn’t you have to be somewhat cuckoo to get married at Disneyworld?” so I kept my thoughts to myself. What do you all think?
But like I said, Disney doesn’t disappoint and it’s a shame that everything in life isn’t the same way. All the things you look forward to in America aren’t always as expected. I’m talking about food specifically here. I have discovered I don’t like American cheese, I don’t like American chocolate, Twinkies aren’t that great, Canadian bacon is similar to short-cut bacon at home, you can’t GET short-cut bacon in USA and I also don’t know whether I like it or not, but the serving sizes are just massive – take a look at this Sprite I was served at Tony Roma’s:
That’s my fist against the drink.
And I suppose it’s good value for money, but I won’t drink that all so that’s a waste really.
What I do like was that Taco Bell, after waiting for 5 years did not disappoint and Cheetos are amazing. Not going to lie they were delicious – and these aren’t the Cheetos we have in Australia… these were lots better. Yum. Delicious. Jealous? Yeah I know. I’m going to get fat soon… yeah I know what you’re all thinking -- “Doesn’t she mean fatter?” Yeah, that’s the one :)
Lastly, I will leave you with some quirks and quotes of my Mum. For those of you who know and love her, you will appreciate this, and if you don’t know her – get ready to meet her.
(Going to the outlet stores this morning, Mum is reading the GPS)
Mum: “Go left”
Dad: “There is no left turn”
Mum: (pointing to the right) “Yes there is!”
The rest of us: “That’s right”
(Coming home tonight)
Mum: “We turn left soon”
I: “I thought it was right”
Dad: “Isn’t it right?”
Mum: “What did I say?”
(At Vancouver airport, I look up from my computer to see my mother sneaking out of the men’s toilets, laughing hysterically)
Mum: I didn’t mean to! I was wondering why there were urinals – I mean Canadians aren’t that weird…
There are plenty of fun times in my family… we are still all talking to each other, if anyone’s wondering. I occasionally get sick of hearing people breathing and it makes me feel like jumping out of a window, but I’m being very good and not saying anything. If Jonathon and Mum argue about making beds again tomorrow, I think Dad and I will lead them at home. I have blisters all over my feet, so I hope tomorrow will be okay.
And I hope you’re tomorrow is okay too. In fact, I hope that it’s better than okay. I hope you all have a great day, and I will talk to you soon.
